June 2007 Wiesbaden - 2,717 trade visitors sourced information about the latest products for pets at the 4th German Pet Trade Fair DeZooFa from 4-6 May 2007. 8 per cent of the visitors came from abroad (2005: 6 per cent). The 142 exhibitors presented their products on a net display area of 4,580 m² (gross: 13,000 m²). Another 470 m² was used by special shows such as the Small Mammals Show. The share of international companies exhibiting at DeZooFa 2007 rose to 18 per cent (2005: 14 per cent). The exhibition was also a media occasion: Altogether 54 accredited journalists attended and reported on DeZooFa in the print and online media and in three radio and two television spots.
"The 4th DeZooFa had a lot to offer as neutral platform and source of inspiration for the pet industry. Exhibitors profited from the high calibre of the visitors and the trade was inspired by the innovations presented and the supporting programme,” says Herbert Bollhöfer, General Manager of the exhibition promoter Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH (WZF). He refers to the WZF structural data compiled by FKM, which indicates that there were more decision-makers among this year’s visitors than in 2005: The attendance of self-employed entrepreneurs and managers has risen from 36 per cent to 46 per cent this year. 15 per cent of the exhibition visitors were executives (2005: 13 per cent), 34 per cent were employees (2005: 44 per cent) and 5 per cent trainees and other experts. They mostly came from the retail trade (63 per cent), including 81 per cent from pet shops, 10 per cent from other areas of the retail trade, from the retail food trade, self-service stores and department stores, and 9 per cent came from garden centres, do-it-yourself stores and agricultural merchants.
According to the WZF survey of DeZooFa visitors, most of them were interested in new products (81 per cent). Also high on the list of interests were general information (62 per cent), cultivating contacts with suppliers (41 per cent) and purchasing (37 per cent). 87 per cent of the visitors were satisfied or very satisfied with the products on display at the 4th DeZooFa and as many as 94 per cent thought the organization and service at the exhibition were up to their expectations. The experts were also delighted with the supporting programme: 72 per cent praised the special shows and presentations. 56 per cent definitely plan to visit the 5th DeZooFa and 31 per cent have not yet decided.
As WZF is considering a new running time and other changes for the coming DeZooFa, it has not yet conducted the survey of exhibitors at DeZooFa: “As usual, we will take the exhibitors’ interests into account in our considerations and include relevant extra questions in the survey,” explains WZF General Manager Herbert Bollhöfer.
